Luciann Lajoie is a classically trained actor, writer, and producer whose work spans DCPA, Asolo Rep, and The Long Center. Her debut play, Date*, premiered at Denver Center Theatre Company/Off-Center — home to new works like David Byrne and Mala Gaonkar's Theatre of the Mind. She founded Blackbox Productions, currently developing Three by Samuel Beckett — Not I, Eh Joe, and Rockaby, premiering at Edinburgh Fringe 2026, and American Woman, a new script drawn from real stories of women who live(d) fully inside the hardest American institutions we know: slavery, the border, incarceration, medicine. Off stage, she works with nationally recognized organizations bringing ensemble and creative practice into maximum security prisons, senior living facilities, and contemporary art centers. She holds an MFA from FSU/Asolo Conservatory and an MSc in I/O Psychiatry and Psychology from King's College London.

Date* outperformed all business expectations set by DCPA, won “Best Use of Projections" (Westword), and was nominated for “Outstanding New Play” (Henry Awards); the subsequent tour included Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and The Long Center for Performing Arts, among others. Box office performance at The Long Center earned Date* a coveted spot in the following season.
